Our role in protecting species on earth
For the past two months, a group of EMIS students have learned about a unique way to protect endangered and vulnerable species and habitats in biodiversity hotspots. We have worked with an international NGO that was founded in Israel by Uri Shanas, This is My Earth (TiME).
This activity was part of Mission Class, where students can engage in real-world projects to discover ways of making change they connect to. The TiME model is unique – it allows you to donate towards buying land that will become a protected area, and “vote” with your donation money. The students learned about how to raise money towards a cause, engage people in becoming interested in this type of activism, and articulating the importance of protecting biodiversity.
