The one-year Pre-DP program

The EMIS Pre-DP educational program serves to prepare students for the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma program (IBDP). It does this by using a variety of approaches to learning that develop the thinking, communication, self-management, research, and social skills of each learner. Each course teaches key concepts and provides experiential learning opportunities. Experienced IB teachers design each course and use a personalized approach to help support a growth mindset and develop self-efficacy in each student. At the end of the year, the final exams assess a student’s skill development in each course over the year and serve as an entrance exam to the two-year IBDP program in 11th-12th grade.

Curriculum Overview

Pre-DP EMIS students take a selection of academic courses in our one-year program. All students take one Math course, one English course, the biochemistry course, and the social sciences course as key preparatory work for the IBDP. Students also choose elective courses offered in both and humanities. Three more courses are required of students: Mission class, which develops their changemaker capabilities; a semester of Arabic language and culture and a semester of Hebrew language and culture, helping ground them in the geographic and cultural context in which they live. Additionally, students take a combined sciences course to develop experimentation and analytical skills.
