Curiosity, challenge, and discovery come alive every day in the EMIS science labs. Recently, our DP2 Chemistry students completed their independent Internal Assessment (IA) research experiments, a key component of the IB Chemistry programme. Each student designed and carried out a unique scientific investigation, from formulating a research question and planning methodology to collecting data and conducting a detailed analysis. This hands-on process allows students to experience science as real researchers, taking full ownership of their work and learning how to think critically, solve problems, and draw meaningful conclusions based on evidence.
Beyond mastering scientific content, these experiments foster creativity, resilience, and confidence. Students learn to navigate challenges, refine their approaches, and reflect on their findings, skills that extend far beyond the laboratory. At EMIS, science is more than a subject studied for exams; it is a way of thinking and engaging with the world. Through inquiry-based learning and authentic research experiences, students transform curiosity into deep understanding and meaningful learning, preparing them to pursue scientific studies and responsible global citizenship in the future.
