Boarding
Borading life at EMIS
At EMIS, boarding is more than a place to live; it is a structured, supportive, and dynamic residential community that plays a central role in student life. Boarding life promotes independence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging, as students live and learn alongside peers from around the world. The boarding program includes academic support, organized group activities, shared meals, and ongoing guidance from dedicated staff, ensuring students feel safe, supported, and connected while developing important life skills.
Our Boarding Team
At EMIS, boarding life is designed to feel like a true home away from home. Students are supported by a structured residential framework that balances independence with care, and provides clear routines, guidance, and a strong sense of belonging. The boarding team is present throughout the day to ensure students feel safe, supported, and connected, while also encouraging responsibility, resilience, and healthy daily habits.
The boarding program is led by the Head of Boarding, Mor, who oversees the full residential experience and ensures that students’ social, emotional, and practical needs are met. Mor works closely with the boarding team, including Social Guides and junior staff, who are present in the afternoons, evenings, and overnight, providing ongoing support and supervision and assisting students with their needs 24/7. Mor also works closely with the House Parent, Wendy, who is present every morning and plays an essential role in students’ daily welfare, routines, and personal care. Together, they create consistency, stability, and a supportive atmosphere that helps students settle in and thrive.
During afternoons, evenings, and weekends, dedicated Social Guides work with specific student groups and provide ongoing supervision, check-ins, and guidance. They support students socially and emotionally, help them navigate challenges, and foster a positive community culture in the boarding house. Wendy, our House Parent, remains a steady and familiar presence for students as well, supporting their daily well-being and personal needs, and helping create a warm, caring atmosphere where students feel comfortable, supported, and truly at home.
Active Days, Shared Moments
After classes end, boarding life at EMIS becomes a lively space for informal learning, connection, and fun. Each afternoon, students take part in a wide range of activities led by the boarding team and social guides, including outdoor sessions, social and community-building activities, and relaxed opportunities to unwind together. These experiences strengthen friendships across cultures, support student well-being, and help create a warm sense of belonging on campus. On weekends, students also join activities offered by the Hakfar Hayarok boarding community, including shared Friday dinners, “hiking” style trips across Israel, sports tournaments, and additional leisure activities, making life on campus active, meaningful, and full of shared experiences.
Shared Spaces, Global Connections
EMIS boarding students live in comfortable, gender-separated dormitories, with shared rooms that bring together students from different countries and cultures. Each room includes beds, wardrobes for personal storage, desks with shelving for study, and shared bathroom facilities within the dorm. This living arrangement encourages independence, responsibility, and intercultural connection, while providing students with a safe, practical, and welcoming space to call home.
International Living, Personal Growth
Life in the EMIS boarding community encourages independence and personal responsibility while celebrating diversity and togetherness. Students learn to manage their own time, balancing academic commitments, personal projects, daily routines, social life, and moments of quiet reflection. Living alongside peers from around the world allows students to experience different cultures, perspectives, and traditions, strengthening international mindedness and creating a warm, family-like community where students support one another and truly belong.
Facilities
The EMIS campus offers a wide range of facilities that support both learning and student well-being. Students have access to a swimming pool, an athletics track, a fitness center, and multiple sports courts, encouraging an active and balanced lifestyle. In addition, the campus includes modern learning spaces designed for collaboration, creativity, and independent study, creating an environment where students can learn, train, and connect throughout the day.Life in the EMIS boarding community encourages independence and personal responsibility while celebrating diversity and togetherness.
